The Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics is concerned with the treatment of diseases and defects of teeth, specifically the restoration of the form, function and esthetics of those hard tissues affected by dental caries, trauma, developmental disorders and regressive alterations of the teeth. It also includes cosmetic and esthetic correction of teeth. Endodontics deals with management of diseases of the pulp and peri-apical tissues through root canal treatment, endodontic surgery and other related treatments. The main objective of this department is prevention, diagnosis and treatment of sequelae of dental caries and the other defects of teeth; techniques and procedures to restore the teeth to full function and appearance in an aesthetically pleasing manner with minimal loss of the healthy tooth structure as possible.
The Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics offers undergraduate (BDS), and postgraduate programs (MDS). The Department also provides fellowship courses in Aesthetic Dentistry and Micro dentistry. The department has state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipments, dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff to render effective evidence based treatment for management of carious teeth, fractured teeth and regressive alterations of the teeth.
OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT
The department since its inception in 1981 has carved a niche for itself not only in Haryana but adjoining states as well because of its delivery of quality dental services by dedicated staff, Senior Residents, Postgraduate students and undergraduate students. The department has one of the highest OPD in the institution averaging more than 250 patients per day. The department is well known for management of complex cases which are often referred by dentists not only from Haryana but adjoining states as well.

Teaching
The Department provides excellent training facilities for undergraduate and postgraduate students which is proved by the fact that top rankers of NEET PG chose to do MDS in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. The students have a great exposure to clinical material and also gain superior skill in handling complicated endodontic cases. The department has a separate fully air conditioned Postgraduate clinic with ultra modern infrastructure with the state of the art dental chairs and equipments. The Department has a separate Ceramic lab, Radiography section, Minor OT and Micro-dentistry Unit. The Department trains postgraduate students in the field of micro dentistry with the utilization of 2 endodontic microscopes namely Carl Zeiss and Moller Wedel International. The Department is forefront in treating peri-apical lesions with evidence based endodontic surgeries using healing aids such as Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) and Guided tissue regeneration (GTR).
Specialized Work
The Department is pioneer in conducting research in various fields of endodontics and has published research papers in high impact journals such as Journal of Endodontics, Operative Dentistry, Journal of Periodontology, International Endodontic Journal, Caries Research etc.. The Department also has collaboration with Dept. of Periodontology for management of Endo-Perio lesions and management of complex endodontic cases. Overall the Department has excellent opportunities in patient care and research and also provides quality education to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
