It is my privilege and honour to share my views on the website of our prestigious Institute Pt. B.D. Sharma, PGIMS, Rohtak> which has a glorious and illustrious history. It has grown leaps and bounds since then to become the epicentre for patient care from across Haryana as well as neighbouring States. In its nascent stage, Medical College was started as a guest Institute in 1960 at Medical College, Patiala. Due to high demand for medical education and a deficient patient care services in the southern part of Haryana, which was the then part of Punjab, it was shifted to Rohtak in 1963. From a small guest institute to a mammoth and prestigious Institute in the country, it has been on a constant growth path and has never looked back since then.

To further strengthen medical education and patient care similar to other prestigious post graduate institutes in the country, it was upgraded as Pt. B.D. Sharma, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in 1995. Several new super speciality departments came into existence and were housed in a new super specialty block named LSL Super speciality Centre to provide advanced treatment facilities. Govt of Haryana, in 2008, established Pt. B D Sharma University of Health Sciences Rohtak to boost not only medical but also other streams of health sciences in the state and PGIMS Rohtak being epicentre and principal constituent institute of the University. Under the umbrella of University of Health Sciences, the institute further spread its wings not only to provide quaternary healthcare services but also conducive milieu for higher quality medical education and research. The Institute is renowned throughout the country and world-wide for its impeccable patient care services, quality medical education and research.

It is imparting Post Graduate Degree/Diploma courses in all the super specialties/ broad specialities, along with Undergraduate courses. Several undergraduate and postgraduate courses have also been commenced in Nursing, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physiotherapy, and other Paramedical courses. At present, it ranks among the reputed Medical Colleges in India which proves its quality and supremacy. The institution is much sought after among students for undergoing undergraduate and postgraduate courses throughout the country. The students who graduate from the institute have carved a niche among them and have become top rated health professionals. They always vouch their success to the institution. They always praise the plethora of dedicated teachers who nurtured their dreams and were always present to guide them even today. Graduates of this institution are rendering supreme patient care services and are working in various positions in Medical Institutions not only in India but in many countries abroad as well as have brought laurels to the institution.
