Oral And Maxillofacial Surgery is one of the special branches in dentistry, which mainly deals with the art of diagnosis ,surgical and adjunctive treatment of diseases ,injuries and defects involving both the functional and aesthetic aspects of hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region. In the Department of Oral Surgery, Rohtak, we do just about any surgery, cosmetic or life saving surgeries or procedures to correct just about any kind of problem with the mouth, jaws, facial structures and neck. We remove complex tumours as well as impacted and non recoverable wisdom teeth. We also specialized to do all the complex dental extractions. We do bone grafts like autografts, allografts for various reconstruction and dental implants for the single tooth and full mouth rehabilitation. The UG and PG students of the department are used to be posted in the DHANVANTRI APEX TRAUMA CENTRE EMERGENCY and they are available for patients need in any kind of dental problems, maxillofacial trauma and even life saving procedure .And also have an opportunity to work with other medical professionals and learn the basic medical treatment. In our department, we have separate minor operating rooms and implant surgery rooms with well sterilized advanced instruments and disinfected rooms under universal surgical aseptic protocol. Most of the giant pathology involving the jaws and various advanced implant surgery including direct and indirect sinus lift procedures. And the patient planned for minor and major surgeries are pre planned and admitted in our dental ward comprises of 20 beds for further surgical management and patient will be followed up at regular intervals in the dental ward .And the work done by our students and staffs during Covid and post Covid affected Mucormycosis patients for treating that life threatening disease and helped for the speed recovery is an extraordinary work and will keep doing it.

OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of oral and maxillofacial surgery deals with the art of diagnosis and treatment of various diseases, injuries and defects involving the oral and maxillofacial region. And more importantly, the department has carved a special niche in the multidisciplinary approach to craniofacial pathologies and deals with other specialties in the maxillofacial region like plastic surgery, neurosurgery, ENT surgery and ophthalmology etc. The Department Oral and maxillofacial surgery, Rohtak is involved with training of undergraduate and postgraduate students in the theoretical and practical aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery, as well as in oral health research. In addition to this, the department is providing quality teaching to the undergraduates, postgraduates and fellow students.

Mission

The main goal and objective of the department is to treat various orofacial diseases and managing dental and orofacial pain and other esthetic surgeries with well equipped and other recent advancement and technologies. The department has separate well disinfected rooms for OPD patients, surgical extraction and implant placement and minor operating rooms and the well maintained DENTAL WARD comprises of 20 beds which provide all kind of indoor care to the patients and also postoperative care to the operated cases. The department of oral and maxillofacial surgery, rohtak is one of the renowned and famous branches in all over the India.

U.G. Teaching

The students passed out their undergraduates from various parts of the country aims and work hard to accomplish a postgraduate seat over here. We are immensely happily to tell that most of the top rankers in the NEET MDS are opting for our department to learn advanced craniofacial trauma, pathology, TMJ, oncology and many different kinds of maxillofacial diseases which they don’t get a chance to observe in other colleges.

P.G. Teaching

The post graduates working in our department they will be posted in the DHANVANTRI TRAUMA CENTRE in the PGIMS CAMPUS. They will be available 24*7 for treating the people suffering from road side accidents and physical assaults and emergency management of airway like tracheostomy and other hard and soft tissue management and dealing with other odontogenic space infection and pain management. They works in the newly designed MODULAR OT with a well equipped set up for management of various removal of pathology and reconstruction , craniofacial trauma and management of oral cancer. We offer an AOMSI fellowship in Maxillofacial Trauma. The AOMSI Trauma Fellowship program is a great opportunity for the young oral surgeons to work in the department.

Special Clinics

There will be team of “OOO” includes Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology And Oral Surgery which combine deals and discuss the various diseases and discussion of the treatment plan for the patients. And a special orthognathic clinic for the combined approach for the diagnosis and treatment planning of the severe craniofacial anomalies and severe malocclusion. The Department runs a pain clinic on every week for the diagnosis and treatment planning for various neuralgia and other pain disorders.

Special Interests

The department also shows special interest in multidisciplinary treatments like orthognathic surgery, prosthetic and other endodontic surgery and dental implantology.
