Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics is that branch of Dentistry that deals with the treatment of complex Craniofacial abnormalities and Malocclusions. The Undergraduate Programme was started in 1981 in our institute. Initially MDS programme was started with 1 seat which was subsequently increased to 3 seats in 2013 which got recognised from Dental Council of India in 2016. Facial esthetics is an important component of personality of an individual and craniofacial malocclusion and irregularities in the growth of jaws lead to decreased facial esthetics and psychological wellbeing of an individual. Malocclusion may also pose a risk for traumatic dental injuries, dental caries and periodontal diseases.
OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT
In the Department of Orthodontics we strive hard to blossom healthy smiles which lead to improvement of overall health and wellbeing of an individual. We also treat complex craniofacial abnormalities with state of the art technologies. The Department is well equipped with ultra modern equipments to deliver quality orthodontic treatment for the needy individuals. We also coordinate with Department of Periodontics and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for any surgical intervention.
Mission
The main goal and objective of the department is to treat various orofacial diseases and managing dental and orofacial pain and other esthetic surgeries with well equipped and other recent advancement and technologies. The department has separate well disinfected rooms for OPD patients, surgical extraction and implant placement and minor operating rooms and the well maintained DENTAL WARD comprises of 20 beds which provide all kind of indoor care to the patients and also postoperative care to the operated cases. The department of oral and maxillofacial surgery, rohtak is one of the renowned and famous branches in all over the India.
U.G. Teaching
Emphasis is given to undergraduate education as well. They are trained to deliver removable orthodontic appliances and they learn the basics of minor orthodontic tooth movements. The Undergraduate course is well structured and aimed at preparing the budding dentist to diagnose and treat simple malocclusions that would go a long way in serving the common man and the community as a whole.
P.G. Teaching
The postgraduate course has contributed in training the postgraduate students with cutting edge technologies. Many of our students have become successful orthodontists and have contributed to healthy societies by their sheer skill and knowledge.

In the Department, we give priority to evidence based research and our research work is published in high impact journals like Angle Orthodontist, Journal of Orthodontic Science and other internationally renowned journals.
